Video blogging is now possible for tens of millions of Webs.com users with a new application built using Nimbb technology.

Montreal, Canada January 25, 2010 -- D2Soft Technologies Inc. announces the release of a new application in the Webs.com AppStore that brings video blogging to the platform.

The Video Blog application, accessible to Webs’ members at the address http://members.webs.com/s/appstore/app?app=vblog (login required), allows site owners and their members to record video posts and share them instantly on their site. Videos are recorded directly in the browser using a webcam.

The application uses Nimbb (www.nimbb.com) to record and playback videos in real-time. Nimbb is a technology that brings video recording to any site. By using the Nimbb API, developers can integrate video recording to their Web projects.

"Thanks to Nimbb, we could build a working prototype on the Webs Application Platform in only a few hours." says Benjamin Berube, D2Soft Technologies president. "The guys at Webs were amazed at just how fast we built this application."

By using both the Webs Platform and the Nimbb API, the Video Blog application is now available for addition to tens of millions of sites created on Webs.com. The application lets site owners add a video blog, but also leverages Webs’ social publishing capabilities to enable the members on a site to publish their own entries as well, creating a shared community video blog. Some of the premium features available in the application include unlimited video recording, longer per video recording times.

This application is the first application D2Soft Technologies has built on the Webs platform. Benjamin Berube describes the experience of working with Webs. D2Soft Technologies is a privately owned Canadian company located in Montreal. The company also develops other products related to the Web 2.0 market. Nimbb is their latest technology available to developers and third-party sites.

Nimbb Player 0.54

This new version adds alternative connection modes, so that corporate users behind firewalls can connect to our server. Some companies tend to block most of the outgoing ports, like the port 1935 needed by Nimbb. Now, if the default connection port fails, the port 443 will be tried.

If you are a corporate user that still have problems connecting, contact us.

Nimbb Player now records at maximum quality and up to 4 minutes

Today we are glad to announce that all videos recorded with our Nimbb Player are now at maximum quality. So even with a Basic or a Platinum account, the default recording quality is set to maximum. This means that you can now create better looking videos!

Also, we are upgrading the Platinum package, to allow to record videos up to 4 minutes long (instead of 3 minutes). So if you are already a Platinum user, you can start recording longer videos. Otherwise, make sure to subscribe now!

Take note that we also changed our subscription prices. If you are already a client and are paying a recurring monthly fee, take note that your billing price won't change.

Email notification for new videos

We added a new feature available to all our subscribers: email notification. It's now possible to receive an email when a new video is recorded from your site. This way, you can be notified instantly as users record videos. In the message, we provide a direct link to the video.

Take note that by default, this feature is disabled. If you want to receive email notifications, you need to go to your Developer Settings and edit the sites you want to turn the notification on. Make sure that our email address is not blocked by your anti-spam software!

Nimbb Player 0.52

We just released the version 0.52 of our player. This version adds better handling of volume and display a warning icon while recording a video if the sound level is too low. By clicking the icon, you access the microphone settings directly and you can adjust them easily.
